“DIEFENBACH” workbenches are made of European red beechwood and oiled. Most benches have a tool trough. The massive tops are built with full length and end facing boards. Benchtop and vise joints are of finger joint construction. Base is of solid glued, mortise-and-tenon construction; stretchers are bolted to the trestles.

Dogholes are mortised into the doghole strip, not cut along its edge. This provides even stronger bonding of the strip to the top. Benchdogs fit flush into holes, but a shallow shoulder prevents dogs from completely sliding through. A steel spring allows each dog to stay raised in position above the bench top during set up for clamping.

Generally, each basic bench is equipped with 2 vises, 1 drawer and 2 spring-loaded metal benchdogs. The "Traditional German" and "Ultimate American" models have a special feature in the front vise, an adjustable spacer/stop. This is particularly helpful to keep the jaw parallel when needing to clamp without vertical restriction next to the guide bar. Shipped in a compact box, only minor assembly of the base is necessary.

Typical traditional European style workbenches are offered in several sizes and with different combinations of vises. The "Tilting Drawer" fits our "Traditional German" and "European" models. If they are not bought as a complete unit originally, they can be added later for slightly higher cost.

The "Ultimate American", built in the "Shaker Bench" style, is the largest model available with or without cabinets and drawers. The cabinets with 3 drawers each and cabinets with door and lock may also be bought as individual items later or be added to any other workbench. Two units will fit most benches, although the "Modern German", which has the same base as the "Ultimate American”, will accommodate three.

Specialty workbenches are available for educational institutions ranging from preschool to full workshops. Included are benches that provide 2 or 4 workplaces or are accessible by wheelchair. Upon request, with extra lead time, workbenches for left-handed persons can be delivered as well as some special order items.

We also sell hand tools that are made in Germany and various accessories for your bench and workshop. A new item available is a tool trough filler, which provides the flexibility of using the bench with or without trough. It is easily inserted into the trough to offer a solid bench top surface or removed when a trough is preferred.
